The EU Heads of Mission in Qatar, welcome the announcement by H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, of a concrete timeframe to hold the first Shura Council elections in October 2021.
This important step will increase political participation by Qatari citizens to the benefit of the people of Qatar.
EU Heads of Mission stand ready to share the experiences of their respective countries with the Election Committee chaired by H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the State of Qatar, and tasked with the organization of the Shura Council elections in October 2021 if requested.
The EU Heads of Missions wish H.E. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud, Speaker of the Shura Council, and Council members a productive 49th session.
