Italian high-level participation to QITCOM 2019

Italy will attend QITCOM 2019 with a large and high-level government and business delegation headed by H.E. Angelo Tofalo, Italian Undersecretary of State for Defence. Members of the Italian official delegation include the Special Advisor to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs for security issues, Mr. Carmine America, and the Director of the Italian Cybersecurity Management Board of the Prime Minister’s Office, Prof. Roberto Baldoni.

“We are very proud of this large and qualified Italian institutional and business participation in QITCOM 2019. Italian major companies and start-ups will attend the exhibition, showcasing a full range of Italian cutting-edge technology in smart cities and advanced solutions for cybersecurity and cyberdefense” said Ambassador Salzano.

Italian Pavilion at QITCOM 2016
In terms of business participation and with its 90sqm of surface, the Italian Pavilion at Qitcom 2019 is one of the largest in the international area with 14 exhibitors. The Director of the Italian Trade Commission in Doha, Mr. Giosafat Rigano’ commented “The Pavilion hosts 2 incubators and 12 start-ups, with key competencies spanning from smart building solutions to encryption systems, from water saving and smart agriculture technologies to data protection”. Almost half of the Italian regions are represented at the event with start-ups and incubators from Trentino, Veneto, Campania, Lombardy, Puglia, Emilia Romagna, Sardinia, Marche, Lazio and Tuscany”

Italian workshop “Italian Cyber-Protection of the Defense Sector and of Critical Infrastructures”(October 30th at 2:30 pm, QNCC, room M218-219).
On the occasion of QITCOM Italy will also host a seminar titled “Italian Cyber-Protection of the Defense Sector and of Critical Infrastructures”, which will be open by H.E. the Italian Undersecretary for Defense on October 30th at 2:30 pm (QNCC, room M218-219). During the event Italian major companies – leaders in the field of protection of critical infrastructures, mass transportation, telecommunications and financial transactions, as well as cyber defence – will discuss cybersecurity scenarios and present technology solutions.
Companies include: Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, the industrial holding managing the Italian railway and mobility sector; Terna, one of the main European electricity transmission grid operators and manager of the high voltage Italian transmission grid; Intesa Sanpaolo, one of the top banking groups in the Euro-zone; STMicroelectronics, a world leader in providing the semiconductor solutions; Leonardo, a global high-tech company and one of the top ten players in the world in Aerospace, Defense and Security; Fincantieri, the leading Western shipbuilder; ELETTRONICA Group specialized in “electronic defence” capabilities; Telsy, security partner for ICT solutions and services.

On the occasion of the workshop, Italy will present in Qatar the first national guide “Cybersecurity in Italy: new opportunities for business”. The publication provides an overview of the Italian cybersecurity architecture as well as new cybersecurity strategy/governance and cyber-related economic trends. It has been jointly realized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Italian trade Agency, CINI Cybersecurity National Lab and CONFINDUSTRIA, the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy.

Lecture of Prof. Roberto Baldoni, HBKU (October 31, 11:00 AM)
On October 31, Prof. Roberto Baldoni, Deputy Director General of the Department of Information for Security (DIS) with responsibility for national cybersecurity, will hold the lecture “Adapting to the threat within digital devolution: the Italian posture and the role of the scientific community to create a more resilient cyberspace” at 11:00 AM at the Hamad bin Khalifa University.
