“We are very proud of and excited about the election of Milano and Cortina d’Ampezzo as Host Cities of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2026.
I would like to congratulate – continues Ambassador Salzano – the Italian National Olympic Committee and the Italian cities for this important achievement and their innovative proposal which confirms the commitment of Italy to host highly sustainable Games. The innovative and creative Milano and the breath-taking city of Cortina, a gem of the Italian Dolomites and one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites in Italy, have successfully joined forces to deliver a memorable experience, that I am confident will be conducive to greater cooperation in the entire Alpine macro-region.
This election – says the Italian Ambassador – brings Italy and Qatar even closer in our mutual commitment in the field of sport as both Countries are preparing to host major international events. Indeed we share a common challenge ahead: to provide top-level facilities and excellent hospitality services, while contributing to strengthen sport values such as teamwork, cultural exchange and fair positive competition.
