Entra in vigore la legge n. 13, che abolisce il sistema dell’exit permit per le categorie di lavoratori stranieri il cui contratto è regolato dal Codice del Lavoro.
Per la maggior parte dei lavoratori non sarà più necessario presentare l’autorizzazione del proprio “sponsor” locale per lasciare il Paese o cambiare datore. Tale legge rappresenta una importante conquista nel percorso di riforme intrapreso dal Qatar nella tutela dei lavoratori stranieri.
Le delegazioni diplomatiche europee accreditate in Qatar hanno adottato la seguente dichiarazione di sostegno:
“The adoption of Law No. 13 by the State of Qatar ending the exit VISA requirements for migrant workers covered by the Labour Code marks a positive step for the promotion and protection of the rights of expatriate workers in Qatar. It is a clear sign of commitment by the Government of Qatar to improve the situation of migrant workers. The European Union is ready to support Qatar on these and future reforms.”
