VISIT TO DOHA OF UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE MARIA TRIPODI ON THE OCCASION OF THE 5TH UN CONFERENCE FOR THE LEAST DEVELOPED COUNTRIES

Undersecretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi visited Doha from 5 to 9 March 2023 to represent Italy at the 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC).

During the visit, the Undersecretary met with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and HE the President of Qatar Museums, Sheikh Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani.

The Undersecretary also had the opportunity to visit some local cultural venues and sites in order to promote potential synergies with Italy.

On 9 March, Undersecretary Tripodi attended the ‘Italian Design Day’ celebrations in Doha, opening the conference ‘Design Stories Between Italy and Qatar’ organized by the Embassy and the ITA Office in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar. In her speech, she emphasized the values of innovation, beauty, creativity, sustainability, functionality and reuse represented by Italian design, while promoting the upcoming “Salone del Mobile di Milano” and the candidature of the city of Rome to host the Universal Exhibition in 2030.
