The University of Pavia offers the Foundation Year 2025-2026, a preparatory program designed for international students who wish to study in Italy.
What is the Foundation Year?
The Foundation Year is a 9-month academic preparation program, entirely taught in Italian. It is aimed at:
- Students who do not meet the 12 years of schooling or specific ministerial requirements necessary to enroll in an Italian undergraduate program.
- Students who want to learn Italian before starting their university studies.
At the end of the course, students will achieve a certified B2 level of Italian, a fundamental requirement to continue studying at Italian universities.
Program structure
The Foundation Year is divided into two parts:
🔹 Italian language and culture course (400 hours) – Available at different levels, from beginner to advanced.
🔹 Area Studies (300 hours) – Students can choose from the following study areas: Humanities, Science and Medicine and Social Sciences
