Visit to Doha of the Italian Minister of Defense, Hon. Guido Crosetto

The Italian Minister of Defense, Hon. Guido Crosetto, visited Doha on 27th and 28th November 2022. In the evening of November 27, the Minister met Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, who expressed his appreciation for the work of Italian militaries in Qatar and for Italy’s support. At the end of the meeting, Minister Crosetto underlined that “the partnership between Italy and Qatar is long standing and it will continue to strengthen the cooperation in the field of security and defense”.

On November 28, Minister Crosetto met Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. During their talk, the two Ministers discussed about bilateral relations and the security framework in the region.

Afterwards, in the Al Qaqa Military base and on board of the Thaon di Revel ship, the Minister met the Italian militaries engaged in “Operation Oryx” in Qatarl, to whom he directed his message underlining that “Italians are proud of your work and of the way you are representing our Nation. I received words of great appreciation for your doing and your know-how, an outcome of the experience acquired by the Armed Forces during Peace Missions”. During his visit, Minister Crosetto assisted to a demonstration of the capabilities expressed by the Italian terrestrial and navy contingent in terms of defense and security.

Italian Armed Forces take part to a bilateral mission to support Qatar’s Armed Forces for the security of the World Cup with 560 militaries (coming from the Army, Navy, Air Forces and Carabinieri military police), 46 land vehicles, a ship and an helicopter.
