Outcome of the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit

Italy warmly welcomes the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit outcome on 5 January with the adoption of the “Al Ula Manifesto”. It marks the start of the normalisation of relations within the Organisation whilst announcing Saudi airspace’s reopening with Qatar. The settlement of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s internal dispute is a fundamental prerequisite for increased stability and security in the region.

We express our appreciation for Kuwait’s continued mediation efforts, the impetus provided by the United States, and the parties’ constructive commitment to overcome the dispute. It is a goal that Italy has always supported with full conviction.
