The Week of the Italian Language in the World, 20th edition. “Italian Between Word and Image: Graffiti, Illustrations, Comic Books”

“The Week of the Italian Language in the World”, at its 20th edition, has become one of the most important initiatives to celebrate the Italian Language abroad. This year’s topic is “Italian Between Word and Image: Graffiti, Illustrations, Comic Books”. Events and activities are dedicated to forms of expressions aimed at promoting the connection between the Italian language and images, particularly comics, graphic novels and children’s book publishing industry.

Under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy, the Week of the Italian Language in the World takes place this year from the 19th to the 25th of October. It is promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and by the diplomatic network of Embassies, Consulates and Cultural Institutes, in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, University and Research and with the main partners in the field of Italian language promotion abroad (Accademia della Crusca, Società Dante Alighieri, RAI) and the Swiss Confederation.

To mark the Week of the Italian Language in the World the Embassy of Italy in Doha and Hamad Bin Khalifa University-TII’s Language Center are offering a range of free Italian language classes for kids and adults. All classes are conducted online and participants are required to have a laptop, a strong internet connection and a camera (Optional). The last day to register is Sunday, 18th October 2020 based on seat availability.
