The Minister of Interior of Italy Marco Minniti was on an official visit to Doha on the 5th of February. During the visit, Minister Minniti met H.H. the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
At the end of the meetings, the entry into force of the Memorandum of Understanding between Italy and Qatar on the fight against crime was signed in presence of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Qatar and the Minister of Interior of Italy Marco Minniti.
The Memorandum aims at enhancing and developing forms of cooperation between Italy and Qatar in particular in the areas of fighting terrorism and organized crime. It was also agreed to develop forms of cooperation and exchange of information on cybersecurity and security related to the organization of major events, such as the 2022 World Cup, also through the creation of technical working groups.
