5th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World: the initiative “Let’s Eatalian” in Qatar

The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is an annual initiative promoted abroad by the Italian network of Embassies, Consulates, Cultural Institutes and Italian Trade Agency offices. It is aimed at promoting Italian cuisine, Mediterranean diet and Italian quality products around the world.

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Pellegrino Artusi, father of Italian cuisine and author of the masterpiece “Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well,” the first cookbook to include fundamental recipes of Italian regions and give a unitary vision to Italian cuisine. In this context, the 5th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine focuses especially on the roots of Italian culinary traditions, in order to explore their extraordinary richness and variety.

On the 10th anniversary of the declaration of the Mediterranean Diet as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO, this edition focuses also on raising awareness on the health benefits of the Mediterranean Diet and its low environmental footprint. Sustainable cooking and reducing food waste can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Week of Italian Cuisine In Qatar – The Let’s Eatalian

The initiative “Let’s Eatalian” is aimed at promoting restaurants and Chefs that contribute every day to disseminate knowledge in Qatar about Italian culinary traditions and products. From November 23rd to 29th, 1 week of special menus created by the best Italian restaurants in Doha to bring to Doha the authentic taste of Italy.

Presentation Of The Week Of Cuisine In Qatar

On November 23, 2020, the opening event of the Week of Italian Cuisine in Qatar took place in the garden of the Residence of Ambassador Alessandro Prunas, in the presence only of local reporters, food bloggers and influencers, due to Covid-19 restrictions in force in Qatar.

The Italian Chef Ivan Musoni, Executive Chef at the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas, performed a live cooking show with the participation of Ambassador Prunas. The event was aimed at promoting the Mediterranean diet and its benefits in terms of health and low environmental footprint. Healthy and balanced diets, such as the Mediterranean one, are strictly connected to sustainable food production and sustainable agriculture. Chefs are increasingly involved in global action to raise awareness and disseminate the concept of sustainability to avoid food waste and promote sustainable food systems.
